Manual Upgrade
If the upgrade cannot be performed with the installation package, it is possible to upgrade Squore manually.
Before proceeding with the upgrade:
-
Create a backup of your current Squore installation.
-
Create a backup of your configuration files.
-
Install a fresh Squore, from scratch, in the version you wish to upgrade to.
|
Any of the manual upgrade procedures described below will not keep your configuration changes such as LDAP, HTTPS or JAVA XMX parameter. Be sure to report manually all these changes afterward. Here is a list of configuration files that are usually modified:
|
Database backup and restore
This procedure requires only a few steps, the drawback is that for databases with high volumes restore time can be long.
-
Stop Squore :
<SQUORE_HOME>/bin/sqctl stop -
Start database :
<SQUORE_HOME>/bin/sqctl start postgresql -
Restore your backup : refer to the Restoring Squore Data section.
If you are using a remote database, backup and restore operations cannot be done automatically and are of the database administrator responsibility.
-
Upgrade your database, where version is the Squore version the restored backup is coming from:
<SQUORE_HOME>/bin/sqadm upgrade-data versionsqadm upgrade-data command runs silently. It can take from a few minutes to a few hours, depending on the amount of data to migrate, the version you are coming from and your hardware performances.
Database directory replacement
This procedure is mainly oriented to users migrating from Windows installations prior to Squore 26 (i.e., installed via an MSI installer) . However, it can be particularly useful for large databases since it bypasses the restore operation by keeping the already existing database directory.
|
Works only if you are coming from Squore 24 and on. |

<SQUORE_HOME>\bin\stop.bat -
Replace the freshly installed <SQUORE_DATA> folder with the old one, using the same name as in the installation.
